Design Form Field Labels Correctly
Forms & Inputs · forms
Updated 2026-07-28
Labels are instructions, not decoration.
Keep labels visible:
Users need context while typing.
Placeholder text disappears.
Avoid placeholder-only forms:
Once typing begins, the question disappears.
Write labels clearly:
"Email address"
"Phone number"
"Company name"
Avoid vague labels:
"Information"
"Details"
"Input"
A field should never make users guess what belongs there.
