- Every word in an interface should reduce uncertainty.
- Avoid technical language:
- Write for users, not developers.
- Make messages actionable:
- Explain what happened.
- Explain why it matters.
- Explain what to do next.
- Prefer specific language:
- "Upload failed. Try again."
- Instead of:
- "Something went wrong."
- Keep important text close to the related action.
- Good copy is part of the interface. It is not decoration added afterward.
