- Every word changes how users understand the product.
- Good UX writing should be:
- Clear.
- Short.
- Human.
- Actionable.
- Avoid technical language users do not understand:
- "Authentication failed."
- "Invalid request."
- "System exception."
- Replace with useful language:
- "Your password is incorrect."
- "This link expired. Request a new one."
- "We couldn't upload your file. Try again."
- Every message should answer:
- What happened?
- Why did it happen?
- What can I do next?
- Good copy reduces cognitive load before users need help.
